Butter Knife Screwdriver

Have you ever seen a person use a butterknife as a screwdriver? Not only have I personally witnessed this, but I have also participated in utilizing the screwdriver in this way (in my younger years). The problem with using a butterknife as a screwdriver is not that the butter knife is not capable of being used as a flat head screwdriver, but rather that this was not the original intended purpose of the butterknife. After a while of using the butterknife as a screwdriver, it slowly began to get dull on the tip and on the edges of the knife. One day I wanted to spread some peanut butter on a piece of bread. I reached in for the butter knife and began spreading the peanut butter on the bread using the butter knife I had previously used as a flathead screw driver. The bent edges of the knife began to rip the bread in areas and I had to try to only use the butter knife on the other side to avoid ripping the bread. This is very similar to how we allow ourselves to be used in life. We are often used outside of our intended and designed purpose and when the day comes when we should be used for our original intended purpose, we are not as effective as we should be because we are, just like the bent butterknife, "ripping the bread". At this point we have to be straightened back to our original form so that we can then be used in the way we were created to be used.
